This fresh focus follows major restructuring at the publicly-funded organization, including the departure of its ex-leader last month after both workforce dissatisfaction and ministerial calls for comprehensive reform.

Increasing Digital Threats

The latest project comes amid growing concern about the nation's susceptibility to digital service failures and cyber-attacks.

Recent events have highlighted these risks, including a major outage affecting international online platforms and latest online threats that disrupted production at major factories and supply chains across several organizations.

Management and Supervision

A previous senior officer of the the nation's space operations center will provide findings next month on how the publicly-supported center can most effectively assist the scale of government AI ambitions in national security, homeland protection and information gathering.

The institute's chair, a ex-Amazon UK executive, confirmed that 78 different research projects at the organization with 440 employees have been terminated, spun out or completed because they do not align with the new direction.
