Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his position after another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
