Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the team enter places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
