Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback is an option. Klopp, after a transformative near-decade reign which brought Champions League success and the Premier League crown for three decades, now holds roles as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

They secured the league title under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the notion that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I said I will never coach any other side in England. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“Being 58, which suggests I might decide later on, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding which situations would need to occur to tempt his return to the touchline, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip interviews multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, yet sharing a meal with the team talking freely, is pleasant. With many victories thus frequently a very good mood around the place. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, crediting him due to the changes that took the title in the previous season. They've been defeated a string of losses in every contest post heavy investment, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, a player he signed in 2020, and the effect on Liverpool. The forward lost his life in a vehicle collision together with his sibling this past summer.

“How do you replace such an individual? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the dressing room missing him. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. A profound tragedy for all the boys as well. Not a single person will ever use it to justify results though it's a fact. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that emotionally is difficult. Impossible.”
