The Gunners' boss remains confident that his squad can keep managing with injury setbacks following disclosing that star striker Kai Havertz is not ready for a few more weeks.

Extended Absence for German Star

The Germany international has been sidelined for months following an operation on his knee. Hoped to be available at the start of this month, the manager stated the player encountered a problem when stepping up his recovery and could not progress “the next phase.”

“We learned, and we were able to put together a squad that is considerably steadier and has increased versatility,” stated the manager.

Selection Dilemma for Brentford Clash

This update presents a tactical puzzle for the midweek match against Brentford. A decision is required between sticking with Mikel Merino, who got a goal as a makeshift striker on Sunday, or reinstating Viktor Gyökeres, who came back from a muscle injury as a substitute. Long-term absentee Gabriel Jesus is also in contention following a lengthy absence.

Defensive Concerns Remain

Additional concerns involve defender William Saliba and winger Leandro Trossard, who sat out the Chelsea match. As a result, new recruits Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are expected to start again in central defence for the league leaders.

Arteta feels the £250m spend on squad depth in the last transfer window has left Arsenal in a much stronger position to navigate such absences.

Greater Options Key to Title Challenge

Questioned if a larger pool of players was aiding their championship push, his response was positive. “Absolutely, as this campaign has seen more issues in some areas, and now the situation with the defence,” he noted.

“Our previous experiences taught us that we have to use players in various roles, and they have to be able to perform various functions if we are to fight at the highest level. And the example of Mikel is just the best one.”

Arteta's Support for Suffering Havertz

Speaking about the complication noted by Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta provided further detail. “He was doing everything. He could not go to the subsequent stage and now it appears like we have solved that issue.”

The manager conveyed his eagerness to see him return. “Everyone is eager to have him. Truly, Havertz is someone that, in my view, I value highly for what he brings to the team, but his personality, his attitude. I observe his frustration while sidelined.”
